I love rain at the ocean which is what happened last night. Our plans for a sunset bonfire at the beach and roasting marshmallows had to be cancelled which is particularly sad because Marianne waited in line for an hour and a half for the permit. I am told she had a book, but still. Rain always means it is time for cards and we are ruthless.

Not so ruthless however that I took advantage of the fact that Brendan showed me his hand throughout the entire game.

These poker faces, in retrospect, meant we had nothing. Except Emily; she was on a roll last night.

Late into the night the rain continued to fall steadily and up under a cedar shake roof, there isn’t a better sound for sleeping. I literally crawled into bed.
