Seckel pears will ripen easily at room temperature on your kitchen counter. The pears you have received have been stored at 34 degrees since being harvested in mid-September and will slowly change from brownish-red to a partially golden hue as they mature. This should take three to seven days.
When Seckels yield a gentle pressure to the stem end they are ready to eat. As they age, the flavor will deepen until it mimics a fine bourbon. (But don’t let them over-ripen and become mushy!)
Bon Appetit!
