It rained all day which made it so much easier to get the laundry folded and put away, for the girls to finish up summer homework, and pack up for their first day of school tomorrow. I can’t help but feel a little sorry for myself tonight. I’m going to miss having them at home all day. It was so damp and chilly I made lamb stew for lunch with eggplant, tomatoes and a few capers. Feels like real food again after lots of salads lately.

Ten days ago I rented Gillian Welch: The Revelator and I’ve watched this beautiful collection of concert clips and music videos, over and over. There is something so intimate about the changes of face expression as they sing; the camera is often up close. We get to see them as I would imagine they see themselves. It is a gem.
