On the way home we made a small detour to Vermont to see Rudyard Kipling’s house. Edwin Remsberg had the brilliant idea to stay there. Billy joined him for a steak supper and an evening of playing pool on the third floor.

Rudyard Kipling’s desk is positively begging for someone to sit down and write.
Naulakha is a Hindi word that means “jewel beyond price”. Kipling and his wife designed the house and it was here that he wrote the Jungle Books and began Just So Stories.
